Networking Engineer

The goal as a network engineer is to build and maintain strong and efficient network infrastructures internally for the company and externally for SMG3 customers. You will engage with Sales, OEMs, and IT professionals to assess an organization’s needs and implement solutions to ensure a safe and dependable network. Additional duties will also include consulting, diagnosing network issues, upgrading hardware and software, and remaining current on industry trends to recommend changes.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implementation of networks.
  • LANs, WANs, Wireless, and other network topologies are designed and implemented.
  • Heavy VOIP/SIP analysis and consulting with customers and OEM’s.
  • Heavy R&D involvement with creation and testing of infrastructure instances (i.e. Cisco Call Manager).
  • Evaluating and selecting hardware and software solutions to satisfy the organization’s needs.
  • Programming of MDM, network elements/devices ,and Quality Assurance checking prior to shipping to customer site.
  • Monitoring network performance and guaranteeing peak performance.
  • Routine maintenance and upgrades are performed to avoid downtime and security concerns.
  • Diagnosing and addressing network faults as soon as possible.
  • End-user technical assistance and collaboration with other IT teams to resolve issues.
  • Creating and updating extensive documentation on network setups, procedures, and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Working with other IT professionals, such as system administrators and security specialists, to maintain a cohesive IT environment.
  • Participation in customer and OEM meetings.
  • Conducting site surveys and for Wireless, LAN and WAN optimization and pricing.
  • Installation of equipment at customer sites.
  • Creation and documentation of SoW’s for customer opportunities.

Required Experience

  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a closely related discipline is required.
  • 10+ years of experience in MSP, Telecom, Mobility services sectors.
  • Knowledge of networking protocols and technology.
  • Knowledge of network hardware (mobility, routers, switches, and firewalls) and software.
  • Relevant certifications (for example, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), CompTIA Network+).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills are required for efficient collaboration and user assistance.
  • Travel will be required, sometime with little notice depending on the needs of SMG3 and its customers.
  • Being part of an on-call after hours support rotation.
